Shamwari is at the convergence of 5 ecosystems and this diversity supports the Big Five and a rich birdlife. This beautiful 20,000ha malaria-free reserve is situated in the verdant bush along the Bushmans River, between between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown. Luxury accommodation is offered 6 varying air-conditioned lodges on the reserve. As well as morning and afternoon game drives with experienced and well trained rangers, you can relax at the Spa or visit the two Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries based here.

The restored Edwardian mansion of LONG LEE MANOR overlooks Bushman's River Valley and captures the spirit of a bygone era. The Manor can accommodate 38 guests in its elegant classically decorated bedrooms. All modern comforts and luxuries are provided for. RIVERDENE LODGE is a restored settler's lodge with 9 well appointed en suite rooms all with satellite TV, telephone and small lounge area. The public area of Riverdene includes two elegantly furnished casual lounges, a sun room and a rimflow swimming pool with sun deck and poolside bar. BAYETHE TENTED LODGE is a 5 star luxury lodge of nine tented suites. 'By-ye-ti' is the welcoming greeting you will receive on your arrival at this splendid stone walled and thatch roofed lodge. Each of the 9 twin-bedded suites is nestled along the bed of the river, camouflaged under trees allowing ample privacy and unsurpassed comforts. Each tented suite is air-conditioned and heated and has an en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower, private plunge pool and viewing deck. Early morning and evening game viewing drives in open land rovers as well as guided nature walks and bird watching are all part of this magnificent experience. Mr and Mrs Manning stayed there in March 2008:
"What can we say!. As good as last time, and probably better. We enjoyed it more as we knew what to expect, and the game drives were arguably even better, which takes some saying as they were great last time. Many wonderful animals, and this time the leopard and cheetah were out in the open and within 10-15 yards of us. Also, we saw lions on the kill of a warthog - not for the squeamish, but real life and death."
