Day 1 : 2 nights, River Club, near Victoria Falls, Full Board and Activities On arrival at Livingstone Airport, you are met and transferred by road and boar to the River Club on the banks of the Zambezi.
One of the seven natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls is a sight not to be missed. When the river is in spate in April and May, over a mile of unbroken surging water plunges into the Zambezi Gorge below. The clouds of spray generated by this thunderous descent have resulted in a lush rain forest full of stunning wild flowers.
The River Club lies 18 km upstream from the Falls on the banks of the river. The camp has a distinct Edwardian flavour, with many pictures of the original homestead and a mellow colonial dιcor. Luxury thatched chalets are en suite, the romantic baths have a view of the river. The rooms can be left open to the Zambezi. Public areas include a stylish rimflow pool and the homestead with its dining room, lounge (with an interesting library area) and covered veranda. Dining is usually a communal affair and takes place on the terrace, whilst lunch is on the lawn under the trees.
Day 2 : At leisure at the River Club River Club includes a host of activities and other activities can be booked at additional cost. Guided trips to the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls are a highlight of your stay whilst boating or canoeing provides a relaxed afternoon activity. Fishing and sundowner trips are also offered as are very popular visits to a local village. The Zambezi National Park is located just across the river, and elephant and hippo can often be seen.
For an additional cost, the more adventurous can enjoy serious white-water rafting or jet-boating or taking a helicopter or microlight flight over the Falls.
Day 3 : 2 nights, Chobe Game Lodge or Muchenje Lodge, Chobe National Park, Fully Inclusive Today you are transferred by boat from the River Club across the Botswanan border to Chobe Game Lodge.
Chobe National Park lies in the northeast of Botswana, teeming with animals, in particular with huge herds of elephant and buffalo. Languorous sunset cruises are a speciality of the area. Activities include game drives in open 4x4 vehicles in the National Park or boat cruises on the Chobe River. This is very much another form of game viewing as you may see game coming down to drink at the river.
Chobe Game Lodge is an established luxury game lodge of attractive Moorish architecture. It has a superb location, the only permanent lodge within the Chobe National Park. The lodge and attractive pool surrounded by gardens overlooks the perennial Chobe River and Caprivi floodplain. Rooms are supremely comfortable and cooled by overhead fans and air-conditioning, with complimentary minibar.
Day 4 : On safari in the Chobe Unsurpassed wildlife opportunities are offers with guided game-viewing either by vehicle, boat or on foot. Game-viewing on the river is by small shallow and highly manoeuvrable boats piloted by expert boatmen. You can also enjoy canoeing and sunset riverboat cruises.
Day 5 : 2 nights, DumaTau Camp, Linyanti Swamps, Full Board & Game Activities Today you head to the Kasane airport where you take your first charter flight west to the Linyanti Swamps for 2 nights. The Swamps lie to the west of the Chobe National Park and are wilder and more remote. Linyanti is particularly known for the huge concentrations of elephant.
Dumatau is built on raised decks under trees overlooking the enormous lagoon. Accommodation is in luxurious tented rooms under thatch with en suite facilities, indoor and outdoor showers. Activities include relaxing boat cruises on board a large pontoon, game drives in open 4x4, night drives and guided bush walks. There are also several hides for game viewing where you can relax for a few hours with a cooler box.
Day 7 : 2 nights, Chitabe Camp, Okavango Delta, Full Board & Game Activities Today you fly south to the exceedingly beautiful Okavango Delta. The Delta is Africa's largest and most beautiful oasis: an isolated, lush green paradise and the maze of waterways, lagoons, vast grassy plains and palm-fringed and wooded islands is home to the richest wildlife and around 400 bird species.
Chitabe is as stunning as the area. It lies south of the Moremi on one of the most beautiful islands of the delta, boasting an incredible variety of habitats, including marshland, waterways, woodland and open grassland. The camp itself is as stunning as the area: luxurious tents built on elevated wooden decks under a cool canopy of trees. Raised walkways lead to the pool deck and thatched lodge. Chitabe focuses on land activities - game walks and 4x4 game drives ? with spectacular bird-watching. Two elevated hides allow you to experience a ?sleep-out? under the stars. Major attractions include good populations of elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard and cheetah. It?s also known for its wild dog.
Day 8 : On Safari in the Chitabe area The following morning as the animals rise early, to hunt in the cool of the day, you take your game drive immediately after early morning tea and coffee. The drive finishes in time for a late breakfast which will be keenly appreciated after your early morning activity. You relax around the lodge during the heat of the day or take a bush walk with a ranger (adults only). This affords guests the ultimate, close-to-the-wild experience, and a chance to focus on the smaller bush inhabitants including birds, insects and butterflies. You can also discover the interesting worlds of trees, grasses, flowers, geology and ecology ? of course, occasionally big game can be seen on walks. After lunch and perhaps a siesta, you meet again for tea which is followed a late afternoon drive.
Day 9 : 2 nights, Xigera, Okavango Delta, Full Board & Game Activities Today you are transferred to Xigera Camp deeper into the Delta. Xigera is in one of the most beautiful parts of the Okavango on 'Paradise Island', a private concession within Moremi reserve. It has water year-round, yet there are lots of large islands with good concentrations of animals, including red lechwe, lion, leopard, the highest density of the rare sitatunga in the Delta, as well as wonderful waterbirds. It is the perfect land and water activity camp, with game drives, walking, mekoro and boating trips offered. The luxury tents are stylish and comfortable, with fans, en suite facilities and an outdoor shower under the stars. They?re linked by walkways to the main lodge.
Day 11 : Depart from Maun Airport After a final early morning game activities and breakfast you are transferred to the airstrip for your short charter flight back to Maun Airport in time for your onward flight.
